Minnesota Senior Surf Days: Introducing Older Adults to the Internet

If you’ve stumbled across this article, then you’re obviously online; but that’s not to say that all of your older relatives or other friends in your age group are, and it’s these people who don’t know what they’re missing out on with the wealth of information available online that can help to improve every facet of life! Getting online may seem overwhelming to these seniors, but it doesn’t need to be, especially not with Senior Surf Days offered by the Minnesota Board on Aging.

Senior Surf Days are no cost classes for seniors looking to take on technology. They take place in libraries, schools and community centers across the state so all seniors, regardless of their exposure to computer and internet use, can find themselves connected.

If you have a senior who can’t attend the Surf Day Classes, there’s also a PDF manual that you can print off for your loved ones so they can get the benefits of what the program offers. It teaches them everything they need to know from what equipment is required, to how to send email. It’s okay if you have ulterior motives for getting someone you love online; next time they ask you for safe exercise tips for seniors, all you need to do is tell them to Google it!
